Kazakhstan ranks as the top Central Asian country for artificial intelligence (AI) readiness, according to IMF data analyzed by Ranking.kz, The Caspian Post reports.
The country holds 48th place globally, just behind Russia, with an AI readiness score of 0.55. This ranking is based on factors such as digital infrastructure, human capital, technological innovation, and legal regulation.
The AI readiness index, which evaluates 174 countries, shows Kazakhstan's strong use of AI, particularly in public service enhancements like geographic information systems and spatial data. For example, Kazakhstan employs statistical models integrating geographic, demographic, and economic data to assess infrastructure needs, improving service delivery to rural areas.
In contrast, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan rank much lower, at 131st and 123rd place, respectively, with scores of 0.35 and 0.37. Kyrgyzstan sits in 99th place with a score of 0.43. Turkmenistan was not included in the IMF index.
