The Kazakhstan-Azerbaijan Trans-Caspian Fiber-Optic Cable is scheduled to become operational in October 2026, Kazakhstan’s Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development Zhaslan Madiyev said at a government meeting.
A 390-kilometer section of the cable has already been laid between Sumgayit in Azerbaijan and Aktau in Kazakhstan, according to Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The Trans-Caspian Fiber-Optic Cable is designed to establish a direct communications link between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan along the bottom of the Caspian Sea, strengthening digital connectivity between the two countries.
