A Russian drone strike in Kherson killed two people, regional governor Oleksandr Prokudin reported on August 12.

He said the attack occurred at around 9:50 p.m. when a Russian drone struck the city’s Korabelnyi District, killing two men, The New Voice of Ukraine reported.

“They were fatally wounded in the drone strike. Authorities are currently working to establish their identities,” he added.

Police released a harrowing video on August 4 showing Russian forces using an FPV drone to “hunt” a civilian vendor at a market in Kherson. The drone chased him before detonating nearby.

The 52-year-old resident of Mykolaiv Oblast survived the attack, sustaining blast injuries, shrapnel wounds, and a concussion.

Russian drones struck a passenger bus in Kherson on August 6, wounding five people, including a 15-year-old teenager.

The UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Ukraine concluded that Russia was guilty of crimes against humanity in Ukraine's Kherson Oblast. The commission's report followed a large-scale investigation into Russia's 10-month campaign of drone strikes against Ukrainian civilians, which began in July 2024. The investigation covered more than 100 kilometers along the right bank of the Dnipro River near Kherson.
