Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan have agreed to accelerate the development of transport infrastructure along the Middle Corridor, including plans to build a ferry for Uzbekistan and establish a joint fleet in the Caspian Sea.

Uzbekistan’s Transport Minister Ilhom Makhkamov said that the two countries also agreed to establish joint ventures and resume ferry services, Spot.uz reports.

Makhkamov said that around 1.5 million tonnes of transit cargo currently pass through the Port of Baku.

The two countries also plan to significantly expand air connectivity, increasing the number of weekly flights from 18 to 40.
