Uzbekistan’s Gold Exports Surge to $1.3 Billion in July

Uzbekistan resumed gold exports in July 2026 after a two-month pause, selling $1.3 billion worth of gold.

Gold had previously been exported only once in 2026, in April. The latest shipment significantly increased Uzbekistan’s gold export figures for the year, according to Interfax.

From January through July 2026, Uzbekistan exported $2.804 billion worth of non-monetary gold. However, gold’s share of the country’s total exports fell to 14.1%, compared with 36.7% a year earlier, when gold exports were worth around $7.6 billion.

Gold remains one of Uzbekistan’s most important export commodities and a major source of foreign-currency revenue. In 2025, the country produced 118.4 metric tons of gold, while the Central Bank exported 100 tons during the year.

Gold production in Uzbekistan is dominated by two major mining companies: the Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Company and the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Company.

Uzbekistan is also planning to significantly increase gold production in the coming years. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said in his address to parliament and the people at the end of 2025 that annual gold production is expected to reach 175 tons by 2030.
