Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has claimed that the European Union could mislead Armenia over its prospects for joining the bloc.

Lavrov made the remarks during the International Youth Festival, according to RT.

The Russian foreign minister said that he believes EU authorities could ultimately fail to deliver on expectations surrounding Armenia’s European integration.

Lavrov questioned how Armenia could become an EU member when countries such as Türkiye and Serbia have been seeking membership for decades.
