Superjet Makes Emergency Landing in Armenia's Yerevan After Technical Issue

A Sukhoi Superjet 100 operated by Russian airline Azimuth made an emergency landing in Armenia’s capital, Yerevan, after reporting a technical malfunction during a flight to Mineralnye Vody, Russia.

The pilots transmitted the 7700 emergency code about 20 minutes after takeoff, while the aircraft was flying near the village of Tsilkari, according to SHOT.

The plane then turned around and headed back toward Zvartnots International Airport in Yerevan.

The aircraft landed safely in the Armenian capital.

The Superjet is more than eight years old and has been operated by Azimuth throughout that period.

The same aircraft reportedly experienced a departure issue in Yerevan about a year ago, when it was unable to take off on its first attempt and had to return to its parking stand for a system restart.
