Mine Blasts in Azerbaijan Kill and Injure 436 People Since Patriotic War

Since November 10, 2020, the end of the Patriotic War, 436 people have been killed or injured in mine explosions in Azerbaijani territories contaminated by mines laid by Armenia, according to Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General’s Office.

Of them, 73 people were killed and 363 others sustained injuries of varying severity, Report informed.

"We regret to say that mine explosion incidents continue to occur in the liberated territories, causing deaths and injuries. For each such incident, the Prosecutor General's Office, together with relevant state bodies, takes the necessary measures and regularly informs the public," the statement said.

Azerbaijan's prosecution authorities are investigating each mine incident in strict accordance with legal norms, clarifying all circumstances of the incident, including the causes and conditions of the detonation.

"Eliminating the mine threat plays a key role in ensuring the safety of citizens in the de-occupied territories, restoring these areas and supporting the sustainable return of the population.

"We once again call on citizens and people traveling to these territories to use only designated safe routes and strictly follow warning signs and the recommendations of relevant state bodies," the Prosecutor General's Office said.
