Sri Lanka’s Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath will lead the country’s delegation to the 7th Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), scheduled to take place in Baku, Azerbaijan, on October 14-15, 2026.

Herath will deliver Sri Lanka’s national statement at the summit, held under the theme “Stronger CICA: Connectivity, Digitalisation and Sustainable Growth in Asia”, according to adaderana.lk.

During his visit, the minister is also scheduled to hold bilateral talks with counterparts from CICA member states, including Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. He will also meet Azerbaijani officials and the organization’s secretary-general.

The summit is expected to bring together heads of state and government and foreign ministers from CICA’s 28 member states, which span South Asia, Southeast Asia, Central Asia and the Middle East.

The visit is expected to provide Sri Lanka with an opportunity to strengthen its engagement across Asia and explore new economic partnerships with rapidly growing Central Asian economies.

CICA is a regional intergovernmental forum focused on promoting peace, security, stability and cooperation across Asia.
