Turkish Political Analyst Highlights Trade Benefits of New Transport Route

Turkish political analyst Murat Yılmaz has stated that the establishment of transport links between western Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic is poised to significantly strengthen regional trade and unlock the untapped potential of Anatolia’s Black Sea ports.

Yılmaz, who serves on the Social Policies Council under the Turkish Presidential Administration, shared his insights during the “Name of Victory - Türkiye” conference at Black Sea Technical University in Trabzon, The Caspian Post reports, citing local media.

He emphasized the strategic importance of the Zangezur Corridor, describing it as a vital segment of the Middle Corridor, a transcontinental trade route connecting Asia and Europe. The corridor will not only streamline trade flows but also stimulate economic development across Anatolia.

“The creation of new trade corridors will elevate the strategic importance of port cities, including Trabzon,” he said. “This development is expected to generate employment opportunities and encourage population growth in Türkiye’s Eastern Black Sea provinces.”

Yılmaz also expressed optimism about the synergy between the Zangezur Corridor and the Development Road, a major infrastructure initiative supported by Ankara that stretches from southern Iraq. Together, he believes, these projects will reshape Türkiye’s economic landscape-particularly in its Black Sea region-by reinforcing its position as a key player in regional logistics and international trade.
