A new circular rail route connecting China and Russia through Kazakhstan has been launched.
Kazakhstan Railways said its subsidiary, KTZ Express JSC, has introduced the regular circular rail service to streamline cargo transportation between the three countries, The Caspian Post reports, citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the national railway company, the complete turnaround time for the route is approximately 20 days. Within Kazakhstan, the service includes comprehensive support, including container equipment and logistics coordination along the entire route.
Under the new system, loaded container trains travel from China to the Moscow region. The containers are then transferred to northern Kazakhstan, where they are loaded with grain before being shipped back to China.
Between April and June, the service handled 13 container trains, equivalent to around 1,600 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs).
