Azerbaijan Emphasizes Key Initiatives For Support At COP29

"Azerbaijan’s green energy zones in Karabakh, East Zangezur, and Nakhchivan, along with the extensive use of experience in creating electricity links between different regions and production-consumption hubs, aim to boost global energy storage capacity sixfold, reaching 1,500 GW by 2030."

“It is of critical importance that the financial backing and initiatives such as the “Green Energy Zones and Corridors Commitment,” the “Global Energy Storage and Grid Pledge,” and the “Hydrogen Declaration,” led by the COP29 Presidency, are supported broadly,” said Parviz Shahbazov, Azerbaijan’s Energy Minister, as he addressed the Ministerial Dialogue on scaling up investment for tripling renewables and doubling energy efficiency held on the margins of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, The Caspian Post reports.

“Azerbaijan’s green energy zones in Karabakh-East Zangezur and Nakhchivan, the broad application of experience in establishing electricity connections between various regions and production-consumption centers, as well as increasing global energy storage capacity sixfold to reach 1,500 GW by 2030, and the addition or upgrading of over 80 million kilometers of electric grid by 2040, are precisely the solutions that will ensure the success of the Global Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Pledge,” Minister Shahbazov underlined.
