Military cooperation within the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is not aimed against other countries, says a Declaration adopted at the CSTO summit in Astana on Thursday.

“We advocate the progressive development of forces and means of the collective security system with the aim to increase their combat readiness to meet the tasks set as well as address challenges and threats,” the document notes, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kazakh media.

“Highlighting that military cooperation within the Organization is not aimed against other countries and purely defensive in nature, we hail the efficiency of planned joint drills of troops (Collective forces) of the CSTO, reads the Declaration,” it says.

According to the Declaration, in order to promote military and technical cooperation, the CSTO countries seek to continue providing components of the Collective Security Treaty Organization troops with the latest and advanced weapons, military and special vehicles, special means.

“We attach great importance to further development of interaction within the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, so as to improve interparliamentary cooperation within the organization, reads the document,” the document adds.
