US President Donald Trump has suggested that Russian leader Vladimir Putin may be providing limited support to Iran amid the ongoing conflict between Washington and Tehran.
In an interview with Fox News, Trump was asked whether Moscow could be assisting Iran during the war, The Caspian Post reports.
“I think he might be helping them a little bit, yeah, I guess,” Trump said. “And he probably thinks we’re helping Ukraine, right?”
The comments come as Washington faces increasing scrutiny over reports that Russia may have shared intelligence with Iran that could potentially be used against American forces.
The White House has previously downplayed the allegations.
US special envoy Steve Witkoff said earlier this week that Moscow denied the claims, adding that “we can take them at their word.”
Trump’s remarks also come as the United States moves to ease sanctions on Russian oil while fuel prices continue to rise amid the conflict in the Middle East.
