US President Donald Trump has told leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) during a virtual meeting that Iran is “on the verge of capitulation”.

During the online conference, Trump reportedly told allies: “I removed the cancerous tumor that threatened us all,” The Caspian Post reports via foreign media.

He suggested that Iran was nearing surrender but claimed there might be no senior officials left in Tehran with the authority to declare it.

“No one knows who the leader is, so no one can announce the capitulation,” Trump said.

Other G7 leaders reportedly urged Trump to end the conflict as soon as possible, stressing the importance of safeguarding the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global energy shipping route.

Trump told allies that the situation in the Strait of Hormuz was improving and said commercial shipping should resume operations in the area. He added that the main issue now is timing, emphasizing the need to “finish the job” to prevent another war with Iran in the coming years.
