Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian will travel to New York on Tuesday to attend the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, the president’s office announced Monday.

Habibollah Abbasi, director general of public relations at the president’s office, said Pezeshkian is scheduled to deliver an address to the General Assembly on Wednesday, The Caspian Post reports, citing Press TV.

During his visit, the Iranian president is also expected to meet with heads of state and other officials from countries participating in the General Assembly, Abbasi said.

His agenda in New York will also include a meeting with prominent Iranians living in the United States, as well as discussions with American intellectuals and think tanks, according to the official.

A high-ranking Iranian delegation, including Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, will accompany Pezeshkian.

Abbasi criticized the US decision to deny visas to some members of the Iranian delegation, including members of the president’s media team, describing it as “an unprecedented hostile move by the US administration.”

The 81st session of the UN General Assembly is set to open Tuesday at UN headquarters in New York under the overarching theme of restoring trust among nations.
