Ship traffic through the Strait of Hormuz by vessels operating without Iranian authorities’ permission has come to a complete halt following the destruction of navigation systems and attacks on tankers.

The measures were taken after three oil tankers were struck the previous afternoon and another vessel accused of violating the restrictions was destroyed overnight, according to TASS.

Tehran warned that any attempt to resume what it describes as unauthorized oil shipments would trigger even tougher action against the vessels involved and their technical support systems.

Any renewed intervention by the US Air Force in support of unauthorized oil transportation would prompt a “direct and decisive response.”

Iranian officials said the US would bear full responsibility for any consequences.
