US President Donald Trump said Iran had “made a big mistake” by selecting Mojtaba Khamenei as the country’s new supreme leader following the killing of his father in US-Israel strikes.

“I think they made a big mistake” in choosing Mojtaba Khamenei, Trump told NBC News, The Caspian Post reports.

Earlier, Trump described the son of Ali Khamenei as a “lightweight.”

The US president also said it was “too soon to talk about” seizing Iran’s oil resources, but added that he “doesn’t rule it out.”
