The United States is reportedly pressing Iran to dismantle three major nuclear facilities - Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan - and to transfer its stockpile of enriched uranium to U.S. custody.

Washington is also demanding that any future agreement governing Iran’s nuclear activities be permanent in nature, The Caspian Post reports, citing The Wall Street Journal.

Tehran, however, has put forward a counterproposal. Iranian officials have suggested lowering uranium enrichment levels from 60% to 1.5% and suspending enrichment operations for a period of seven years.

Sanctions relief remains a central point of contention. While the United States favors only limited easing of economic restrictions under a potential deal, Iran is calling for broad and substantial sanctions relief.

The third round of negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program has today kicked off in Geneva. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said the framework of discussions remains unchanged, emphasizing Tehran’s continued demand for the lifting of sanctions and international recognition of its right to pursue peaceful nuclear energy.
