An aluminum boat carrying five people capsized in Kazakhstan’s Pavlodar Region on September 12, leaving one man missing.

The incident occurred near the village of Zhanaul. Four of five people aboard managed to escape from the overturned boat, while a man, 43, is presumed to have drowned, NUR.KZ reports.

A large-scale search operation is underway. Six rescuers from the region’s emergency response unit are involved, using three boats and two echo sounders to search the Irtysh River.

Over two days, rescuers surveyed around 35 kilometers of the riverbed with echo sounders and carried out 11 diving operations. Divers examined an area of approximately 5,000 square meters.

The search operation is continuing.
