UN General Assembly Approves Kazakhstan's Initiative for SDGs Center in Almaty

The UN General Assembly adopted a Kazakhstan-led resolution today by consensus, calling for the creation of the UN Regional Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Center for Central Asia and Afghanistan in Almaty, with the support of 152 countries.

It’s a significant foreign policy success for Kazakhstan. The head of state expressed gratitude to all partner states for supporting the Kazakhstani initiative, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kazinform.

The president believes that the UN Regional SDGs Center will become a key platform to coordinate international efforts in the region, wrote Ruslan Zheldibay, Press-Secretary and Advisor to the Kazakh President, on his Telegram channel.
