The official opening ceremony of Bishkek Arena will take place in the Kyrgyz capital on October 5, with all KTRK television channels broadcasting the event live.
A special entertainment program has also been prepared for residents and visitors of Bishkek, according to 24.kg.
According to the Bishkek mayor’s office, the ceremony is expected to attract up to 65,000 spectators. Due to the anticipated traffic load, employees of several government, municipal and educational institutions in the capital have been switched to remote work.
The new stadium has already hosted a major event. On August 31, it hosted the opening ceremony of the 6th World Nomad Games, attended by more than 30,000 spectators. However, the August 31 event was not considered the arena’s official opening.
Presidential press secretary Askat Alagozov said that construction of Bishkek Arena cost $386 million.
The project was initially envisioned as a simpler 30,000-35,000-seat stadium with an estimated cost of $60-70 million. The plans were later significantly revised, resulting in the larger and more expensive arena.
