Kyrgyz Economy Remains Resilient Amid External Pressures

Kyrgyzstan's economy grew by 11.1% in the first seven months of 2026.

According to the latest analytical data from the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB), Kyrgyzstan's GDP increased by 11.1% during the first seven months of 2026, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kabar.

Analysts believe that despite a challenging external environment, including rising energy prices, the economy is resilient enough to maintain its upward trend in gross domestic product.

In this context, it is worth highlighting government measures aimed at curbing rising oil prices. The country imports more than 90% of the fuel it consumes. By subsidizing suppliers, the government covers the difference between purchase prices and the cost of fuel at Kyrgyz gas stations. Depending on the fuel brand, the difference amounts to between 25 and 37 soms per liter. This represents a significant sum nationwide.

However, the authorities are supporting the population and businesses in an effort to curb inflation, as a sharp rise in consumer prices could cause much more serious damage to the country.

As experts note, Kyrgyzstan's overall economic situation remains stable and predictable. The Cabinet is managing external pressure, allowing the main drivers of the economy - the construction sector, the growing manufacturing industry, and trade - to maintain stability and positive momentum.

EDB analysts project that Kyrgyzstan's GDP growth will exceed 10% by the end of 2026.
