Kyrgyzstan and Russia have reached an agreement on the monthly supply of 100,000 tons of fuel and lubricants, as Bishkek seeks to stabilize the domestic fuel market.

The two sides have agreed on the volume of supplies, but have not yet finalized fuel prices, 24.kg reports.

Representatives of the Kyrgyz Association of Oil Traders are expected to travel to Russia in the coming days to negotiate pricing and other terms of the deliveries.

Kyrgyzstan’s First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Daniyar Amangeldiev said Kyrgyz authorities will also continue negotiations with other countries to ensure the domestic market has sufficient supplies of gasoline and diesel fuel.

The agreement comes amid restrictions on Russian fuel exports. Russia recently extended its ban on petroleum product exports until January 31, 2027. However, starting September 1, supplies will be permitted under intergovernmental agreements and as humanitarian aid.

Kyrgyzstan has faced growing pressure on its fuel market after petroleum product supplies from Russia almost came to a halt, according to the Kyrgyz Association of Oil Traders. The disruption was linked to the situation at Russian oil refineries that have been targeted by drone attacks.

The supply problems have contributed to rising prices for gasoline and diesel in Kyrgyzstan, while some filling stations have reported shortages of AI-95 gasoline and diesel fuel.

Kyrgyzstan consumes around 2 million tons of fuel and lubricants annually, with approximately 95% of its total demand supplied by imports from Russia.
