Kyrgyzstan to Stage Exciting U20 Ice Hockey Championship

From January 18 to 24, 2026, Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan will host the IIHF U20 World Junior Ice Hockey Championship (Division III-B).

Matches will take place at the multi-functional Bishkek Arena, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.

The tournament will feature youth teams from Kyrgyzstan, Mexico, Luxembourg, South Africa, Iran, and Hong Kong (China). Over the week, teams will compete in a series of exciting matches to determine the winner and runners-up, showcasing speed, skill, and determination.

The championship is organized by the Ice Hockey Federation of Kyrgyzstan with support from the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) and partners. Fans from across the country and abroad are expected to attend, cheering for the Kyrgyz national team and enjoying the vibrant winter sports atmosphere with family and friends.

The event comes amid positive national news: Kyrgyzstan’s population grew by 103,400 people (1.4 per cent) between January and October 2025, reaching 7,385,000 as of November 1.
