Iranian, Russian Presidents Set to Meet in Ashgabat

Iran’s Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali announced that President Masoud Pezeshkian will soon meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.

Jalali made the statement during a meeting with a parliamentary delegation from Iran and Russian Iranologists at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IOS RAS) on Thursday, The Caspian Post reports, citing Iranian media.

He announced that Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi will make a visit to Moscow next week to strengthen mutual ties.

Jalali emphasized the importance of expanding relations between Tehran and Moscow, stating that the signing of the Iran-Russia Strategic Partnership Agreement at the beginning of 2025 aims to enhance these ties.

He described the ongoing meetings between leaders and high-level officials of both countries as a sign of their strong relations.

Earlier on Wednesday, President Pezeshkian’s chief of staff, Mohsen Haji-Mirzaei, announced that Pezeshkian would be traveling to Ashgabat to participate in a forum celebrating the “International Year of Peace and Trust, the International Day of Neutrality, and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality.”

The chief of staff also confirmed that Pezeshkian will deliver an official address at the event in Ashgabat and hold bilateral meetings with several presidents and premiers.
