Building Collapse Leaves Three Floors in Ruins in Türkiye's Istanbul

Three lower floors of a seven-story residential building collapsed in Istanbul, Türkiye, prompting rescue teams to evacuate residents from the building.

A child was rescued alive from under the rubble, Bir Gün reports.

The incident occurred at around 6:00 a.m. (GMT+3) in the Maltepe district on Istanbul’s Asian side. Initial reports had indicated that two floors of a six-story building had collapsed.

A textile workshop and several commercial shops are located on the lower floors of the building. They were closed at the time of the collapse.

Numerous rescue teams are working at the scene, evacuating residents and clearing the rubble as search and rescue operations continue.

Rescuers have pulled eight people from the rubble of an eight-story building in Istanbul’s Maltepe district.

Search and rescue operations are continuing in the area.
