Four People Test Positive After Woman Dies of Pneumonia in Russia’s Irkutsk

Two people who had contact with a woman who died of pneumonia of unknown origin in Russia’s Irkutsk Region have tested positive for Covid-19, while two others were diagnosed with rhinovirus infection.

“Laboratory tests have confirmed two Covid-19 and two rhinovirus infection cases,” Russia's Federal Service for the Oversight of Consumer Protection and Welfare (Rospotrebnadzor) said, according to TASS.

No pathogens linked to any other infectious diseases were detected among the people who had contact with the woman.

The case comes as Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Healthcare continues to monitor the epidemiological situation in Russia’s Irkutsk Region following reports of a suspected particularly dangerous infectious disease.
