Massive Drone Attack Hits Moscow, Damages Oil Refinery Facility

A massive drone attack on Moscow and the surrounding region damaged a facility at the Moscow Oil Refinery and a building in the capital, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said while reporting on a new wave of drone strikes.

“The most massive attack by enemy drones has been repelled. Since yesterday, more than 1,600 UAVs have been shot down along all defensive lines. Of these, 450 were intercepted while approaching Moscow,” Sobyanin wrote on Telegram, The Caspian Post reports.

According to the mayor, a facility at the Moscow Oil Refinery was damaged. No casualties were reported at the site, where emergency services were working.

One of the drones also struck a building in the area of Orekhovy Boulevard, Sobyanin said.

The Moscow Region was also targeted in a large-scale UAV attack.

Regional Governor Andrey Vorobyov said 249 drones were shot down across 17 districts. Two people were killed, fires broke out in two apartment buildings and a warehouse complex, and another apartment building was damaged.
