Tourist travel between Russia and North Korea has continued to grow steadily over the past three years, signaling a gradual revival of tourism ties between the two countries.

Alexander Kozlov, Russia’s Minister of Natural Resources and co-chair of the Russia-North Korea intergovernmental commission, said the positive trend has continued despite the overall number of travelers remaining relatively small, according to TASS.

“Tourist flow between Russia and Korea has maintained stable dynamics over the past three years and has certainly shown positive growth,” Kozlov said on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum.

He noted that Russia and North Korea only began actively rebuilding tourism cooperation in 2024 after a prolonged period during the COVID-19 pandemic, when opportunities for international travel and tourism development were severely limited.

Kozlov said that Russian tourists are showing increasing interest in visiting North Korea and learning more about the country’s culture, traditions and way of life.
