Sierra Leone Offers Land to Russian Coffee Producers

West African nation Sierra Leone is ready to lease land to Russian investors for coffee cultivation, Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Russia Mohamed Yongawo said.

“Our state is ready to lease them land so they can grow coffee, because in three or four years they could make our dream come true - bringing coffee to Russia directly from Sierra Leone,” Yongawo said in an interview with TASS.

The diplomat also encouraged Russian businesses to purchase coffee directly from Sierra Leone, without intermediaries.

The proposal could open a new avenue for direct agricultural and trade cooperation between Sierra Leone and Russia.
