The Turkish Navy has conducted live-fire tests of new missiles on SeaHawk helicopters off the coast of Antalya, marking an expansion of the helicopters’ combat capabilities.

During the trials, the helicopters fired L-UMTAS GM and IIR TEMREN missiles developed by Turkish defense company ROKETSAN against both ground and aerial targets, according to shifdelete.net.

The integration of the new weapons is expected to expand the SeaHawk’s operational capabilities and transform the helicopters into more versatile multi-role platforms.

Both missiles are equipped with infrared seeker heads and use a “fire-and-forget” guidance system, allowing them to continue tracking their targets after launch without requiring further guidance from the helicopter.

The new ammunition is expected to enable Turkish SeaHawk helicopters to carry out missions beyond striking ground targets, including operations against drones and other helicopters.
