Two men have been killed in a bear attack in Russia’s Tomsk region, according to the regional branch of the Russian Investigative Committee.

The victims were residents of the village of Severnoye in the Kolpashevo district: a 44-year-old local farm worker and his 46-year-old neighbor, The Caspian Post reports, citing the committee.

The first man entered the forest on September 18 to search for a missing cow but did not return. The following day, his neighbor went into the forest to look for him and also disappeared.

On September 20, both men were found dead in the forest. The bear involved in the attack was neutralized.

Investigators are currently working at the scene to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
