Uzbekistan Clinches Top Spot at Central Asian Youth Chess Championship

The Uzbekistan national team secured first place in the overall standings at the Central Asian Youth Chess Championship (ages 8-18), which recently concluded in Kyrgyzstan.

The championship brought together 425 talented chess players from five countries. Following the 9-round tournament, members of the Uzbekistan team earned a total of 6 gold, 4 silver, and 6 bronze medals, The Caspian Post reports citing Uzbek media.

Medal winners included Mehribonu Nazirkulova, Abduqodir Bakhodirov, Alisher Abduqayumov, Temur Shavkatov, Jahongir Dilmurodov, and Fazliddin Farhodov.

Teams from Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Tajikistan followed Uzbekistan in the final rankings.
