Uzbek Energy Minister Sherzod Khodjaev has said that Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan are exploring joint production of petroleum products, including automotive and aviation fuel, as a promising new area of energy cooperation between Baku and Tashkent.

Khodjaev said that energy cooperation between the two countries is developing across several strategic areas. One of them involves a hydrocarbon exploration and production project on the Ustyurt Plateau, where work is currently underway, according to Report.az.

Another major area is the planned export of renewable electricity generated in Uzbekistan to Europe via Azerbaijan, with Kazakhstan also involved in the project.

“One of the areas proposed today is the joint production of petroleum products, including automotive and aviation fuel, to meet Uzbekistan’s needs,” Khodjaev said.

The minister added that Uzbekistan sees strong potential in supplying its domestically produced green energy to European markets through Azerbaijan.
