Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan Sign 2026 Military Cooperation Plan

Azerbaijan’s Defense Minister, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov has met with a high-level Uzbek delegation led by Secretary of the Security Council Viktor Mahmudov and Defense Minister Lieutenant General Shukhrat Kholmukhammedov, currently on an official visit to Azerbaijan.

The delegation paid respects at the Alley of Honor, visiting the graves of national leader Heydar Aliyev and academician Zarifa Aliyeva, and later laid a wreath at the Victory Monument in Victory Park, The Caspian Post reports via the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry.

During an official ceremony at the Ministry of Defense, the national anthems of both countries were performed and the “Book of Honor” signed. Hasanov emphasized that Azerbaijani-Uzbek military cooperation is grounded in friendly and fraternal relations, while Uzbek officials highlighted the role of military collaboration in strengthening both armies.

The sides discussed cooperation in military-technical, educational, and defense fields, and signed the 2026 bilateral military cooperation plan. The Uzbek delegation also toured key departments of the Azerbaijan Army General Staff, gaining insight into its operations and asking questions.
