Armenia Is Looking Forward To The Participation Of An Azerbaijani Delegation At The 17th Conference Of The Parties (COP17) To The UN Convention On Biological Diversity, Set To Take Place In Yerevan From October 18 To 30, 2026.
"Yes, of course, we are ready to welcome the Azerbaijani delegation. All member states have been informed of the event dates. An official invitation has not yet been sent, but it will be issued shortly. I believe we will see significant participation from high-ranking officials and ministers. It is too early to say which countries will confirm and which will not," Armenian Environment Minister Ambardzum Matevosyan said during a year-end press conference, The Caspian Post reports, citing local media.
Matevosyan noted that COP17 will include 196 member states, and the invitation comes not only from Armenia, which is hosting and presiding over the conference, but also from the UN. Invitations will be sent jointly to all member states.
"We are inviting all 196 countries. One of the event's key topics is working together on shared environmental challenges, and no country should be left out of this effort. We are ready to welcome all countries and delegations," Matevosyan added.
