Armenia sees no place for Russia in the "Trump Route"

The Speaker of the Armenian Parliament, Alen Simonyan, stated that he cannot envision Russia's involvement in the TRIPP project ("Trump Route").

"How do you imagine this? This is an Armenian-American initiative," he told journalists on February 10, The Caspian Post reports, citing Armenian media.

Simonyan noted that movement across Armenia is possible not only within the framework of TRIPP. "When grain or fuel is transported from Azerbaijan, it's not TRIPP," he explained, adding that the Russian side could propose expanding the project to include other directions.

"A mechanism similar to TRIPP has been discussed for a long time. The difference is that it worked with the USA thanks to President Trump in the context of the peace process," the spokesperson noted.

He also did not rule out that the American side might consider Russia's involvement, with Armenia's consent. Ultimately, Simonyan emphasized that Russia should not focus exclusively on TRIPP: "There are many paths, and they are working. After all, this was done here a hundred years ago."
