Sedrak Kocharyan, the son of Armenian ex-President Robert Kocharyan, has been transferred to the Yerevan-Kentron penitentiary, his lawyer Aleksandr Kochubayev said.
The facility is popularly known as the “State Security Committee's basement” and is located in central Yerevan, Sputnik Armenia reports.
Kocharyan to be detained for two months. He was arrested alongside his father in a case involving allegations of bribery and abuse of official powers.
Kocharyan’s lawyer has previously described the prosecution as politically motivated and unlawful, rejecting the allegations against his client and his father.
