Armenia’s iconic Jermuk mineral water brand has regained trademark rights in China, potentially clearing the way for the company to enter the Chinese market.

The Jermuk trademark has been re-registered in China under the name of Jermuk Group, Ruzanna Malkhasyan, head of the Armenian Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s department for the development of Armenia-China trade and economic relations, said.

The rights to the brand had previously been registered in China by Beijing Borjomi, a Chinese company. Malkhasyan said that the registration had prevented Armenian Jermuk water from entering the Chinese market.

The Armenian side challenged the registration, and the trademark rights were subsequently restored to their rightful owner.
