Azerbaijan Files Report to ICAO Over Iran Drone Attack

Azerbaijan has submitted a report to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) regarding the drone attack carried out by Iran on Nakhchivan International Airport, according to the country’s Ministry of Digital Development and Transport.

Under the Convention on International Civil Aviation of December 7, 1944, and the standards outlined in Annex 17 on Aviation Security, member states are required to submit an initial report to ICAO in cases of unlawful interference with airport operations, The Caspian Post reports, citing the ministry.

In accordance with these regulations, the State Civil Aviation Agency under Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Digital Development and Transport filed a preliminary report on the incident with ICAO.

On March 5, drones launched from Iranian territory struck several locations in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. One drone hit the terminal building of Nakhchivan International Airport, while another fell near a school in the village of Shakarabad. The airport attack resulted in injuries to four civilians.
