Azerbaijan Leads New Green Energy Union with Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan



The Azerbaijani Energy Ministry has announced that Azerenergy (Azerbaijan), the Kazakhstan Electricity Grid Operating Company (KEGOC), and the National Electric Networks of Uzbekistan jointly established a new entity - the Green Corridor Union with its headquarters in Baku.

This collaboration supports the Azerbaijan-Central Asia Green Energy Corridor project, designed to strengthen energy security, advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and promote the transition to renewable energy across the region, The Caspian Post reports via The Astana Times.

The founding agreement was signed on July 1 in Baku by:

Ziyaddin Guliyev, Vice President of Azerenergy

Saltanat Shunayeva, Head of Department at KEGOC

Feruz Kurbonov, Deputy Chairman of Uzbekistan’s National Electric Networks

Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Energy, Elnur Soltanov, highlighted the strategic value of the Green Energy Partnership Agreement, signed by the leaders of all three nations during COP29. He also pointed to the joint Implementation Program developed in coordination with Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Energy.

Farhad Mammadov has been appointed Director General of the newly formed Green Corridor Union.
