Azerbaijan Lowers Upper Age Limit for Conscription

The upper age limit for military service conscription has been reduced in Azerbaijan.

President Ilham Aliyev has approved amendments to the Criminal Code, Migration Code, Code of Administrative Offenses, bills "On Public Health Protection," "On Military Service," "On Psychiatric Care," "On Mobilization Preparation and Mobilization in the Republic of Azerbaijan" and "On Military Duty and Military Service," The Caspian Post reports.

According to the amendment, conscripts are male citizens of Azerbaijan aged 18 to 30 who are on initial military registration, as well as persons subject to military registration but who have not completed compulsory military service.

Previously, men aged 18 to 35 were called up for compulsory military service.
