Azerbaijan, Mongolia Eye Direct Flights Between Nine Cities

Mongolia is preparing for the possible launch of direct air services with Azerbaijan in the near future.

The planned agreement could pave the way for flights connecting six Azerbaijani cities with three destinations in Mongolia, according to Central Asia.media.

The Azerbaijani cities named in the plans are Baku, Ganja, Nakhchivan, Lankaran, Gabala and Zagatala. On the Mongolian side, the destinations would include Ulaanbaatar, Khovd and Choibalsan.

Mongolian airlines would also be authorized to operate flights to six Azerbaijani cities. The services could begin as early as the coming period.

The two countries have also agreed to designate one or more airlines and allow cooperation through codeshare arrangements, potentially giving passengers more connecting options.

Meanwhile, the relevant committee of Azerbaijan’s parliament discussed an air services agreement with Mongolia.

The agreement would establish the legal framework for passenger and cargo flights between the two countries, as well as the transportation of baggage and mail.
