Travel between Kazakhstan and Mongolia is becoming easier with the launch of a new direct air route connecting the capitals of the two countries.
Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Transport announced that SCAT Airlines began operating direct flights between Astana and Ulaanbaatar on June 2, 2026. The service will run twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays, using Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, The Caspian Post reports via Kazinform.
The new route marks another step in strengthening transport links, tourism, and business ties between Kazakhstan and Mongolia.
Air connectivity between the two countries is expanding rapidly. Mongolian carrier Hunnu Air already operates flights between Almaty and Ulaanbaatar three times a week and is set to increase frequency to four weekly services starting June 6.
With the addition of the Astana-Ulaanbaatar route, travelers will now have access to six direct flights per week between Kazakhstan and Mongolia across two major city pairs.
