The "Environmental Protection First" (EPF) Coalition, which brings together Azerbaijani NGOs against Armenia’s environmentally harmful mining industry, is set to unveil a digital map identifying major polluters with photo and video documentation.
According to the chairman of the "Azerbaijani Cartographers" Public Union, Mugabil Bayramov, the active work on the digital map has been going on for over a year, The Caspian Post reports, citing AZERTAC.
“We reiterate that Armenia, which disregards all environmental norms and standards, has no right to contaminate the entire region.”
Bayramov pointed out that the coalition's demand has not changed: “Armenia must create conditions for Azerbaijani NGOs and international organizations to conduct environmental monitoring at its mining enterprises. Why does Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan continue to ignore our inquiries? As civil society organizations, we have sent an open letter to Armenia on this matter.”
