Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has welcomed Türkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan during his visit to Baku.

“The visit reflects the strong strategic partnership, allied relations and fraternal ties between Azerbaijan and Türkiye,” according to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry’s message on X.

During his visit, Fidan is scheduled to hold bilateral and delegation-level meetings with Bayramov. He is also expected to meet Azerbaijani Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov.

Fidan is further expected to be received by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

The talks are expected to highlight the progress in Türkiye-Azerbaijan relations, which have advanced to the strategic level. Fidan is expected to stress the need to step up efforts to reach the $15 billion bilateral trade target set by the two countries’ presidents.

Energy and transport projects will also feature prominently on the agenda, along with other joint initiatives.

The Turkish foreign minister is expected to discuss ongoing cooperation between the two allies in the defense industry, security and military fields. The sides will also review cooperation on multilateral platforms, particularly within the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).

Fidan and Azerbaijani officials are expected to consult on Türkiye’s upcoming hosting of the 13th OTS Summit and COP31.

Regional security will be another key topic. Fidan is expected to say that a historic opportunity has emerged to establish peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia, while reaffirming Türkiye’s support for good-neighborly relations between the two countries and welcoming recent positive developments.

Fidan is also expected to reiterate Türkiye’s support for efforts to improve infrastructure in Karabakh, restore energy and trade routes, and strengthen regional connectivity.

The meetings will also include an exchange of views on current regional and international developments.
