Azerbaijan and Türkiye are looking to further strengthen their strategic alliance, with energy cooperation and new routes to international markets high on the agenda.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev received Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Baku on September 15, according to Azertac.

Fidan conveyed Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s greetings to President Aliyev. The Azerbaijani president expressed his gratitude and asked Fidan to convey his regards to Erdoğan.

During the meeting, the sides praised the successful development of relations between the two countries and the continued strengthening of their strategic alliance across multiple areas.

President Aliyev and Fidan also highlighted the importance of cooperation based on the principle of “one nation, two states.”

Energy cooperation was another key topic, with the sides exchanging views on developing new routes to alternative international energy markets.

The two countries’ strategic logistical positions were also emphasized, particularly their role as a bridge connecting Europe and Asia. The sides underlined the importance of coordinating their activities within international organizations.

The meeting also covered prospects for bilateral relations, regional developments and other issues of mutual interest.
