Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva attended the inauguration of the Pirgulu Park hotel in Shamakhi on September 17.

Fariz Abbaszade, a representative of Moderngroup LLC, briefed the President and First Lady on the hotel’s facilities and infrastructure.

Located in the Pirgulu settlement near the Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory, the new tourism complex covers 16 hectares and includes two hotel buildings.

One building has a capacity of 188 beds, while the second can accommodate 172 guests. The complex features 175 rooms in different categories and two cottages, allowing up to 366 guests to stay at the facility at the same time.

The hotel complex also includes restaurants and cafes, along with a 160-seat hall designed for meetings and training sessions.

A separate congress building with a capacity of 600 people has been constructed at the site, alongside a children's entertainment center and an amphitheater.

The opening adds new accommodation and event facilities to Shamakhi’s tourism infrastructure, particularly in the Pirgulu area, known for its natural surroundings and proximity to the observatory.

The sustainable development of Azerbaijan’s tourism sector remains a priority of state policy. The country’s natural landscapes, historical and cultural heritage, and diverse climate are among the factors supporting its development as an international tourism destination.
