A delegation led by Tahir Budagov, Deputy Chairman of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party (YAP), visited Cuba at the invitation of the Communist Party of Cuba.
The delegation was received by Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party and President of the Republic of Cuba, The Caspian Post reports, citing the party.
The meeting focused on the historically rooted relations between Azerbaijan and Cuba and highlighted the exceptional contributions of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, and the Commander-in-Chief of Cuba, Fidel Castro.
The parties underscored that the bilateral relations, based on friendship and equal partnership, offer broad opportunities for cooperation across various fields within the framework of ongoing political dialogue.
The delegation also met with Juan Esteban Lazo Hernández, President of the National Assembly of People’s Power and the Council of State of Cuba. During the meeting, it was noted that YAP Chairman, President Ilham Aliyev, and President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez attach special importance to relations between the two countries, emphasizing the role of political parties and interparliamentary cooperation in fostering bilateral ties.
A Cooperation Agreement was signed between the New Azerbaijan Party and the Communist Party of Cuba during the visit. The agreement was signed by YAP Deputy Chairman Tahir Budagov and the First Secretary of the Communist Party in Santiago de Cuba, José Ramón Monteagudo Ruiz.
The delegation also visited the Fidel Castro Center.
